Monday, October 9, 2017 - Snow, Baptism, and Football

Hello everyone!! This week was super good!!

Felix FINALLY got baptized last Saturday!! It has been a long time coming, but he finally got baptized. We had 2 people help him, one who did the ordinance and then one who helped them get him up so he didn't have to put much pressure on his bad knee. His confirmation on Sunday was also super good. He was the first one in fast and testimony meeting to bear his testimony!! It was really special.

On Saturday there was a little league playoff football game that several members and investigators have sons that are on the team. It was REALLY intense. First playoff game, at home. The school here is a 2A school, and the school they played is a 4A school, which means they are MUCH better. Yet, the team scored in a last minute 60 yard run to win 19-12. It was super cool to see. We sat and talked with a less active family who has a 9 year old daughter with lots of potential to be baptized. We are teaching them a lot, and their grandfather is a HUGE help. He brings them super often to church and comes with us to all the lessons.

On Sunday, we were in Kamas, Utah teaching some Hispanic folks and it was snowing! Like, really snowing, and about 35 degrees!! Needless to say this Arizona boy was pretty cold, but he was loving it! Although, the people here said that winter started pretty early, and when that happens, it usually gets very cold. So we shall see how cold it gets!!

This week has gone pretty awesome! Taught my first actual lesson with a golden investigator, who we hope to baptize in 2 weeks! (He is in the plaid shirt in the photo) I also had my first baptism yesterday! It was amazing! I am taking it easy, well trying to, we walk to the chapel to do splits and everytime I feel like I trip and hurt my ankle a little more, but I can feel it getting better. However, I am not taking ibuprofen...está bien! It doesn't hurt that much! The church is in a circular form. We live about 5 minutes North East of the church, down a street called Juy Juy. Honestly, I think Tuxtla is larger than Tucson! It is huge! And we are surrounded by mountains, if you think Tucson is surrounded, think again! I legit feel like we are in a bowl! It is green everywere! And even though we are finishing up mango season, we are still eating mangos everyday! It is really weird slurping a super juicy mango out of a hole! P-Day is Thursday this week because we are going to the temple that day, so P-Day was moved. Wow! This week was insane!! This will probably be my biggest email ever. As you all already know, we had transfers and we knew I was leaving but didn't know where. Monday night we found out I will be going to the Murray 2nd Ward! And my new companion will be Élder Solis! He was born and raised in Miami Florida, but his parents are from Guatemala. His first language is Spanish, and he just finished his training before I came so he has about 3 and a half months in the mission. He is awesome, loves swimming and volleyball, plus he is also a professional dancer. There are also sisters in the ward now as well because the area is huge. What stinks is that they are on bikes and we are in a car because of my ankle. I would love to drive them places if I could, but I can't. They are awesome though! Hello everyone! This week was pretty good and super long! First off, the weather up here is starting to remind me of Tucson!! I love it, it is only averaging above 90 degrees right now though. I keep trying to roll down the windows but Elder Gonzalez is used to 75-80 degree summers lol. We were actually tracting one time at some condos/apartments and an English sister who lives there offered us some cold water. He said no but I told her to get him one anyways and I told him when she went away that he would thank me in an hour. Sure enough, when we got back to the car an hour and a half later he said, "I am super thirsty." hahahaha it was very funny, and yes he did thank me ;) We received a super solid referral this week! E___ and her family, from Columbia. They are super awesome. Her husband is a member so we just need to baptize her. She loves her family, most importantly has a strong love for her kids, which is perfect when teaching how families can be together f...
