Monday, April 2, 2018 - "Remember, we are all part of the church now because of people like you."

WOW!! What an historic and absolutely amazing General Conference weekend!! SO many amazing things happened!! Elder Carrero and I can't stop laughing at Elder Durrant's quote "es posible". It was just too funny. Speaking of funny, this was one of the most humorous conferences I think I have ever watched!! So many great and awesome talks. Oh yeah, also, Elder Carrero and I (and I am pretty sure this goes the same for a lot of other Hispanics), we are SUPER excited that we now have a HISPANIC APOSTLE!! Haha

Just a little bit more about my email heading. We were eating at Denise's on Friday (absolutely AMAZING homemade diner) and there were some members visiting from Las Vegas. They came to see the Sunday Morning session and the husband went fishing on the Weber River. Well, once we got acquainted and became friends, we figured out that they are all converts to the church. They thanked us immensely for our work and service that we do. Well, right before they left, the mom said to us, "Remember, we are all part of the church now because of people like you." She may never know how much that hit home with me, but that was an absolutely amazing experience that my companion and I shared together.

Well, we had a TON of investigators watch general conference, and they all loved it!! It was super cool that almost all of them were able to watch the solemn assembly!! We were able to watch conference with 2 investigator families, and gave tickets to another investigator family. It was amazing!

I am grateful for the prophet Joseph Smith, who restored the Church of Jesus Christ with a prophet and apostles. I am just super excited and happy that we have a prophet, President Russell M. Nelson, to lead and guide the world. And that he receives direct revelation on how to show us the way. I am thankful that the priesthood, the power and authority to act in God's name, has been brought back to the earth, never to be taken away again. I am so very grateful for the Book of Mormon, and that we have that other witness of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Most of all, I thank our older brother, Jesus Christ, who willingly "...[took] upon him the pains and sicknesses of his people" and that He "...[loosed] the bands of death". Because of Him, death has no sting, and we will all live again, glorified, and in the presence of Him, as well as our Father in Heaven.

I love y'all and hope you had a memorable Easter Sunday. May we all remember Him, and what he did for us!!

This week has gone pretty awesome! Taught my first actual lesson with a golden investigator, who we hope to baptize in 2 weeks! (He is in the plaid shirt in the photo) I also had my first baptism yesterday! It was amazing!  I am taking it easy, well trying to, we walk to the chapel to do splits and everytime I feel like I trip and hurt my ankle a little more, but I can feel it getting better. However, I am not taking ibuprofen...está bien! It doesn't hurt that much!  The church is in a circular form. We live about 5 minutes North East of the church, down a street called Juy Juy.  Honestly, I think Tuxtla is larger than Tucson! It is huge! And we are surrounded by mountains, if you think Tucson is surrounded, think again! I legit feel like we are in a bowl! It is green everywere! And even though we are finishing up mango season, we are still eating mangos everyday! It is really weird slurping a super juicy mango out of a hole! This is how we eat mangoes: ...

P-Day is Thursday this week because we are going to the temple that day, so P-Day was moved. Wow! This week was insane!! This will probably be my biggest email ever. As you all already know, we had transfers and we knew I was leaving but didn't know where. Monday night we found out I will be going to the Murray 2nd Ward! And my new companion will be Élder Solis! He was born and raised in Miami Florida, but his parents are from Guatemala. His first language is Spanish, and he just finished his training before I came so he has about 3 and a half months in the mission. He is awesome, loves swimming and volleyball, plus he is also a professional dancer. There are also sisters in the ward now as well because the area is huge. What stinks is that they are on bikes and we are in a car because of my ankle. I would love to drive them places if I could, but I can't. They are awesome though! Their names are Hermana Oteo who is from San Diego, but her parents are from Mexico. She ...
