Well this week has been really good!!
To start it off, it is hobo spider season. It normally goes from August to October. And don't really come out until the end of October. We have had so many of these little guys roaming around our shack, and they kind of remind me of Aragog from the Harry Potter series, hence the subject title.
Also, just another little side note, on Sunday we had dinner with an awesome family. They had a girl who is in her senior year in high school and a son who is in his junior year, both of whom are on the school cross country team. Well, he won state this year in cross country! That was pretty awesome to hear. However, his sister, won it as well, FOR THE FOURTH YEAR IN A ROW!! Ever since she was a freshman she has won state in cross country!! Which is just insane!! Anyways, you can bet that North Summit (the high school here) took state overall in cross country, as they did last year too.
On Wednesday, practically all the youth in the stake and more went to Henefer to play fugitive. Now, for those who don't know what this awesome game is, I will explain it. Everyone starts at a predetermined place and once they get the go ahead they have to get to another predetermined place without getting caught by one of the "spotters". Here, however, they had the youth start in three different places, just because of how many people were playing (around 100-150 youth). It originally was going to be a mutual activity, but turned in to an "everyone come and have some fun" sort of thing. They played 3 separate games, each a half an hour long. We decided to help the spotters on the third game simply because we just got back from three lessons prior. We went with one of the bishops in his truck, and this bishop is a crazy driver!! Elder Trincado and I were in the bed (his kids were in the cab, which had one row of seats) and he was going off-roading!! It was so much fun though.
On Friday we had Elder Kevin R. Duncan from the Seventy come and visit the mission. This man is super awesome!! Quick note, he started his mission in the city where Elder Trincado is from!! (Puente Alto, Chile) It was pretty cool. But he wanted to know what we wanted to learn and he based his training off of the things which we said!! One of the things which really stuck out to me was "A goal is a desire of our hearts and a vision of what we know we can achieve. Then to add to that he said "Define a perfect situation first, then make a plan to carry it out." As missionaries, there are many perfect situations, we just need to make a plan to carry it out so we can achieve our goals.
I just wanted to end this email with a quote from President Gordon B. Hinkley. He once said, "Do you want to be happy? Forget yourself and get lost in this great cause. Lend your efforts to helping people. ... Stand higher, lift those with feeble knees, hold up the arms of those that hang down. Live the gospel of Jesus Christ."
