Monday, December 11, 2017 - Transfers

This week went by super quick!!

First off, Elder Trincado and I are staying together again!! 3 transfers in a row!! To stay with a companion for 3 transfers is pretty rare. He has never stayed with one companion for three transfers, and neither has Elder Gonzalez, my last companion, until I became their companions! It is pretty weird.

We had a lesson with Sam on Monday which went really well, we had our ward mission leader come in with us and he invited him to the gospel principles class. And then we also had a lesson with him on Tuesday night, of which our Mission President Skyped in our lesson!! It was super powerful, and our President invited him to be baptized on the 23rd. He said that he would pray about it, and the spirit was incredibly strong. We have another lesson with him tonight and tomorrow night as well.

On Saturday we had one of the Ward Christmas parties and it was pretty fun. They served a brunch that consisted of ham, eggs, hash browns, and donuts. And then someone read a book about how Santa and Christ are similar. Also, Coalville had their Light Parade on Saturday. There were so many cool and different lights. The fire department and sheriffs joined in and put Christmas lights on their vehicles, people rode their horses with lights on them, there was even a dog sled with lights on them. The videos I took are pretty dark and hard to make out what they are. They turned off all the lights in town to add to the effect and to be able to see the lights better.

On Sunday we gave a talk in one of the wards! We were asked to speak on taking Christ's name upon us. I just wanted to share a quote that I used in it from Elder Ulisses Soares. He once said, "As we take Christ’s name upon us, it is expected that we strive to emulate His attributes and change our character to become more like Him each day." We should all try to obtain the attributes that Christ shows to us, especially during this wonderful Christmas season.

Love you all!!

This week has gone pretty awesome! Taught my first actual lesson with a golden investigator, who we hope to baptize in 2 weeks! (He is in the plaid shirt in the photo) I also had my first baptism yesterday! It was amazing!  I am taking it easy, well trying to, we walk to the chapel to do splits and everytime I feel like I trip and hurt my ankle a little more, but I can feel it getting better. However, I am not taking ibuprofen...está bien! It doesn't hurt that much!  The church is in a circular form. We live about 5 minutes North East of the church, down a street called Juy Juy.  Honestly, I think Tuxtla is larger than Tucson! It is huge! And we are surrounded by mountains, if you think Tucson is surrounded, think again! I legit feel like we are in a bowl! It is green everywere! And even though we are finishing up mango season, we are still eating mangos everyday! It is really weird slurping a super juicy mango out of a hole! This is how we eat mangoes: ...

P-Day is Thursday this week because we are going to the temple that day, so P-Day was moved. Wow! This week was insane!! This will probably be my biggest email ever. As you all already know, we had transfers and we knew I was leaving but didn't know where. Monday night we found out I will be going to the Murray 2nd Ward! And my new companion will be Élder Solis! He was born and raised in Miami Florida, but his parents are from Guatemala. His first language is Spanish, and he just finished his training before I came so he has about 3 and a half months in the mission. He is awesome, loves swimming and volleyball, plus he is also a professional dancer. There are also sisters in the ward now as well because the area is huge. What stinks is that they are on bikes and we are in a car because of my ankle. I would love to drive them places if I could, but I can't. They are awesome though! Their names are Hermana Oteo who is from San Diego, but her parents are from Mexico. She ...
