This week felt super long but was incredibly fun!! Our numbers didn't really show success but we received a ton of information on a ton of different people in different cities and were able to contact a ton of people as well. Just a quick note, today is our P-Day because we are going to the temple today.
First of all, we are receiving Facebook and smartphones this week (tomorrow). It is super exciting and I really feel like it is going to help us a TON with the work if we use it wisely.
As most of you know as well, I had my birthday 2 Mondays ago and we had a surprise party at a member's house. I kinda figured they would do something because they asked to feed us that day, which is a P-Day and we never have people ask to feed us then because we have dinner ourselves. So it was kind of weird. But it was super awesome nonetheless!! We had chicken and broccoli casserole with rice and croissants for the meal, and had peach pie for dessert with some ice cream. It was very good.
On Tuesday the next day, Elder Trincado (he is a district leader) had to go down to Salt Lake for a big mission leadership training. So I had to be up here on splits with a couple members. It was super fun and that was the day where I learned a ton about the area. In the morning, starting at 7 am I was on splits with the stake high councilor over the missionary work, Brother Paskett. We had a Book of Mormon class from about 9 am till 11 am. It was super nice, but I was mostly trying to find someone else to come with me in the afternoon because Brother Paskett had things to do. Anyways, I was able to go with one of the ward mission leaders in Henefer. He told me everyone that lives in Echo, which is not a lot to begin with, and we contacted a bunch of people in Hoytsville, a couple of which told us to come back, and others said straight forward they aren't interested haha. Anyways, for dinner, after Elder Trincado came back from SLC, we had halibut!! It was super good.
On Wednesday we had the baptismal interview for Eddie! It went super well!! He was in there for only about 15 minutes which is perfect. Elder Harris, one of our zone leaders who interviewed him, said he was really awesome and super ready for baptism, which made our day a whole lot better.
On Thursday we were in Kamas almost the entire time besides the morning. The evening was the most fun. We went on splits because we had four lessons. I went with a recently returned missionary from Mexico who returned home early because he needed to get surgery on his knee. We visited the Cruz family first. They are super awesome!! The wife is from Guerrero and the husband is from Michoacan (both in Mexico). They have three kids all born here, 17, 7, and 4. We invited them all to come to church on Sunday and we basically taught about what goes on during the classes. The other lesson we had was with a Peruvian sheep herder named Jose. He is the coolest dude!! Super humble, and when he goes back home in the winter he is going to start teaching his family what he learned here so he can hopefully get baptized with them!!
Just something quick that happened on Friday was in the morning. As usual we play volleyball in the mornings on Friday and Wednesday. Well I went up to go spike a ball....and came down awkwardly on my ankl-no just kidding!! I spiked it, and one of the sisters we play with blocked the ball so hard it came back and hit me on the face!! Wow that was embarrassing.
On Saturday we set up our Facebook accounts!! That was pretty fun, but not nearly as fun as the baptism that we had for Eddie!! A TON of people came. It was fantastic!! The whole thing only lasted about 45 minutes which is perfect. Then we had a huge lunch afterwards!! Oh man the food was really good.
On Sunday we had his confirmation. Now, it was super short, probably no more than 3 minutes long. But it was super powerful. We also went to the Wanship ward primary to get the little kids pumped up to do missionary work. I was super fun. Uriel Cruz (the dad) came to church on Sunday!! We were super happy and he said he is going to bring his wife and kids next time. They didn't come because they were helping someone get ready for a baby shower.
On Monday we contacted the Alamo family (they live in Coalville but go to the Spanish Branch). They had a non-member friend there. It was super funny because Hermana Alamo decided we should read a chapter from the Book of Mormon. Their friend was cooking and listening in to our conversation. So, she told us to read it loud enough for him to hear. We read 2 Nephi chapter 29 with them.
On Tuesday (yesterday) we had an amazing lesson with Sam and Hope. Hope is an active member of the church, and Sam seems like he is. Only thing, he isn't baptized yet. He has been actively coming to church every single week, and started reading the Book of Mormon personally, and with his wife, before we even met him!! He and his wife have only been married for about 1 month, so they are a brand new couple. Well, we taught him the Plan of Salvation and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. At the end I decided to ask him if he would be willing to be baptized on December 2nd. The Spirit was SO strong and...he said he would think about it. We invited him to pray to know to know what he should do. I know that he will be willing to be baptized really soon, he just needs an answer to his prayers.
