Monday, February 26, 2018 - More Snow!

This week was pretty awesome. We got a lot more snow this past week, and it got nice and cold. Wednesday morning it was -10 degrees!! In some places, in other places it was actually colder! But everyone has been waiting for this much needed snow so it was a true blessing when it started feeling like winter again. Didn't get above 30 degrees last week though.

Thursday was probably the most effective day of the week. I was on exchanges with a missionary serving in Park City, and we were in my area while my comp and his comp were in theirs. We worked the whole afternoon and night in Kamas, even though he had no Spanish education whatsoever XD so I was translating for him the whole night. But we got to see someone who I was teaching before but he went to Peru, and now he is back!! It was really cool to see him again because we got pretty close. And then we also taught another family who should start progressing really well soon. We talked about prayer and why it was so important. At the end, I told them I was going to say a prayer and then choose one or two people to say one as well. 3 people from that family said a prayer when the previous week they were a little timid to say one!!! It was really awesome to see it, and one of their prayers was one of the best prayers by someone I taught I have ever heard on my mission. You could just tell that she meant it and that it came from her heart, and she is 16!! It was incredible. We also gave a blessing that night to one of the sister missionaries in Kamas, and later that night she sent us a thank you text saying that she felt a whole lot better already!! The priesthood is an amazing and powerful tool, and I have seen that come to pass many times as a missionary.

On Sunday night we had a special experience as well. Elder Carrero and I asked a few families to pray together as a family unit for someone that we could visit and teach, and that we would go back to see them in a week to see if they received anything. We visited one of the families and they received a special witness about someone who isn't a member but has been coming to church. You could tell that the Spirit told them that that person needs to hear a message. They said that they were more than willing to have lessons with him in their house, and it was really special to see this family thank us for the opportunity they had to be a part of sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

This week has gone pretty awesome! Taught my first actual lesson with a golden investigator, who we hope to baptize in 2 weeks! (He is in the plaid shirt in the photo) I also had my first baptism yesterday! It was amazing!  I am taking it easy, well trying to, we walk to the chapel to do splits and everytime I feel like I trip and hurt my ankle a little more, but I can feel it getting better. However, I am not taking ibuprofen...está bien! It doesn't hurt that much!  The church is in a circular form. We live about 5 minutes North East of the church, down a street called Juy Juy.  Honestly, I think Tuxtla is larger than Tucson! It is huge! And we are surrounded by mountains, if you think Tucson is surrounded, think again! I legit feel like we are in a bowl! It is green everywere! And even though we are finishing up mango season, we are still eating mangos everyday! It is really weird slurping a super juicy mango out of a hole! This is how we eat mangoes: ...

P-Day is Thursday this week because we are going to the temple that day, so P-Day was moved. Wow! This week was insane!! This will probably be my biggest email ever. As you all already know, we had transfers and we knew I was leaving but didn't know where. Monday night we found out I will be going to the Murray 2nd Ward! And my new companion will be Élder Solis! He was born and raised in Miami Florida, but his parents are from Guatemala. His first language is Spanish, and he just finished his training before I came so he has about 3 and a half months in the mission. He is awesome, loves swimming and volleyball, plus he is also a professional dancer. There are also sisters in the ward now as well because the area is huge. What stinks is that they are on bikes and we are in a car because of my ankle. I would love to drive them places if I could, but I can't. They are awesome though! Their names are Hermana Oteo who is from San Diego, but her parents are from Mexico. She ...
