Monday, January 8, 2018 - Soon to be on America's Most Haunted

 This week was pretty awesome!!

We had our zone conference and our interviews this past week on Thursday and Friday and that was pretty fun!!

But first off, before I go into the rest of my email, I just wanted to tell you why I chose that to be the title for this week. It has to do with a place we were at last night for dinner. Remember that old Indian fort I showed the picture of a while back? That was at the same place where we were helping that rancher deliver his hay to his cattle. And that house, not the fort but the house next to the fort, was where we ate for dinner last night. Let me tell you about it. The couple who lives there? They are a sweet couple in their late 80's. The house? It was built in the 1860's. It was considered a mansion at the time of its building and we could tell why. There was three total stories and there were just rooms without end!! It was like you open the next door and there is another room!! I think there were like 8 bedrooms in total. That is not the creepy part though. The elderly couple's mother bought and repaired used toy dolls. And you guys I am not kidding, there is probably like 300-400 dolls in this house!!! There are two WHOLE rooms that are absolutely filled with them. We were helping them put their Christmas boxes away, and we put them in the attic. I felt like I was in Annabelle, but with ALL of her friends. I will show you what I mean in the picture and video below. First, the attic. When we got there, the light, which looked like a brand new bulb, didn't turn on. There was an old mirror connected to drawers, and an old wardrobe. A lot of old beds and stuff to. Just creepy. My favorite part was that there was a door on the second story that led outside. Oh, it led outside and down. There was nothing there!! It was the door leading outside, and to get outside you will fall to the ground, nothing. It was just super creepy.

Anyways!! On to the rest of the email!! We had three lessons this past week with one of our investigators. She has been 100% prepared by the Lord to receive our message. She never felt the push to start going to church until she moved to Henefer. She is actually pretty good friends with the ward's Relief Society President which is perfect!! She grew up in southern Idaho and received a lot of negative conflict with the youth of the church there, until she came here. She had surgery on her hand, and her friend, the Relief Society President, had people from the ward bring her dinner for 3 days straight. Also, a couple of people were doing the 12 Days of Christmas for her. She has felt so loved her, and so included by the community. She told us that she has had a strong urge to come to church, and she doesn't know why. She has been feeling that wonderful feeling of the Spirit!! We asked her to pray about baptism, and she said she will.

On Saturday we went to the Stake because there were two young girls getting baptized who we were teaching. That was a super special experience. I added pictures below.

On Sunday one of our less actives that we have been working with came to church with us!!! We were super excited and he told us he loved it. The best part? The whole branch (it was the YSA branch) came up to him to meet him and fellowship him. We didn't even ask them to do that!! They did it on their own. It was really awesome.

Love y'all!! And I hope you guys have an amazing week!!

This week has gone pretty awesome! Taught my first actual lesson with a golden investigator, who we hope to baptize in 2 weeks! (He is in the plaid shirt in the photo) I also had my first baptism yesterday! It was amazing!  I am taking it easy, well trying to, we walk to the chapel to do splits and everytime I feel like I trip and hurt my ankle a little more, but I can feel it getting better. However, I am not taking ibuprofen...está bien! It doesn't hurt that much!  The church is in a circular form. We live about 5 minutes North East of the church, down a street called Juy Juy.  Honestly, I think Tuxtla is larger than Tucson! It is huge! And we are surrounded by mountains, if you think Tucson is surrounded, think again! I legit feel like we are in a bowl! It is green everywere! And even though we are finishing up mango season, we are still eating mangos everyday! It is really weird slurping a super juicy mango out of a hole! This is how we eat mangoes: ...

P-Day is Thursday this week because we are going to the temple that day, so P-Day was moved. Wow! This week was insane!! This will probably be my biggest email ever. As you all already know, we had transfers and we knew I was leaving but didn't know where. Monday night we found out I will be going to the Murray 2nd Ward! And my new companion will be Élder Solis! He was born and raised in Miami Florida, but his parents are from Guatemala. His first language is Spanish, and he just finished his training before I came so he has about 3 and a half months in the mission. He is awesome, loves swimming and volleyball, plus he is also a professional dancer. There are also sisters in the ward now as well because the area is huge. What stinks is that they are on bikes and we are in a car because of my ankle. I would love to drive them places if I could, but I can't. They are awesome though! Their names are Hermana Oteo who is from San Diego, but her parents are from Mexico. She ...
