Monday, July 2, 2018 - "Utah Salt Lake City Mission"

Well, for those who don't already know, we are now officially the Utah Salt Lake City Mission!! Mission headquarters dissolved the central mission and gave us 83 of their missionaries, and new areas including Rose Park, downtown Salt Lake, and the University of Utah are now inside of our mission. This is a super exciting time for our mission.

Elder Solis was sick this week so Elder Stapp was with us for the whole day on Friday. It was a ton of fun!! We were tracting in some apartments and we walked through their park and this young man from Iran walked up to us and said "You guys come to my house? Okay, you come to my house." And so we went to his house, there were 5 people there, 4 kids and the mom (the dad was working). They used google translate to communicate with us in Arabic, cause they spoke little to no English. IT WAS SO MUCH FUN!! They wanted to come to church so bad, so we got them a ride. And today we found out that the young man made his family stay for all 3 hours and they loved it!! It was super cool.

This week has gone pretty awesome! Taught my first actual lesson with a golden investigator, who we hope to baptize in 2 weeks! (He is in the plaid shirt in the photo) I also had my first baptism yesterday! It was amazing! I am taking it easy, well trying to, we walk to the chapel to do splits and everytime I feel like I trip and hurt my ankle a little more, but I can feel it getting better. However, I am not taking ibuprofen...está bien! It doesn't hurt that much! The church is in a circular form. We live about 5 minutes North East of the church, down a street called Juy Juy. Honestly, I think Tuxtla is larger than Tucson! It is huge! And we are surrounded by mountains, if you think Tucson is surrounded, think again! I legit feel like we are in a bowl! It is green everywere! And even though we are finishing up mango season, we are still eating mangos everyday! It is really weird slurping a super juicy mango out of a hole! P-Day is Thursday this week because we are going to the temple that day, so P-Day was moved. Wow! This week was insane!! This will probably be my biggest email ever. As you all already know, we had transfers and we knew I was leaving but didn't know where. Monday night we found out I will be going to the Murray 2nd Ward! And my new companion will be Élder Solis! He was born and raised in Miami Florida, but his parents are from Guatemala. His first language is Spanish, and he just finished his training before I came so he has about 3 and a half months in the mission. He is awesome, loves swimming and volleyball, plus he is also a professional dancer. There are also sisters in the ward now as well because the area is huge. What stinks is that they are on bikes and we are in a car because of my ankle. I would love to drive them places if I could, but I can't. They are awesome though!
