Hello everyone! I am so very happy to be in a Spanish Branch now!!

My companion, Elder Juarez, is from Honduras!! He speaks good English. He has 7 months in the mission, but served for 6 months in Honduras as he was a Visa waiter. But we love our branch. It is called the Union Fort 10th Branch. We live in a very nice basement with an older couple in an English ward. The members are absolutely AMAZING!! One family fed us twice in a row because we didn't have any dinners for the week. They are the Gourley family. Bro. Gourley served in Buenos Aires Argentina, and Sis. Gourley is from there. They have 2 girls who are awesome, they love singing and soccer so I fit right in! But super awesome family. My Spanish is a little rusty, but everyone speaks in Spanish here, even the American members, so I should be back up to par soon. I ask for the gift of tongues every day.

Driving a car that has a TIWI is weird. And for those who don't know what a that is, let me explain this type of torture for you. Imagine having a super overly protective mom in the passenger side. That is the best way I can explain it. Yesterday, a dog ran out in the street and I had to slam on the breaks. TIWI didn't like that, he said "Aggressive driving" and gave me an infraction. At least the dog is okay.

Yesterday evening after dinner, we gave each member of the family a blessing of comfort. The Spirit was super strong and it was an amazing experience. Elder Juarez did the blessings because my Spanish is still a little rusty. But the Spirit was still there nonetheless.

Alma 26:12 “Yea, I know that I am nothing; as to my strength I am weak; therefore I will not boast of myself, but I will boast of my God, for in his strength I can do all things; yea, behold, many mighty miracles we have wrought in this land, for which we will praise his name forever.”

From Aubry: On Transfer Tuesday last week, my mom texted me a picture of Elder Wilkes and his new companion IN HER HOUSE!! What a surprise! They received permission to go by for a quick second to say "Hi!"

New companions - Elders Juarez and Wilkes

Just a little frame of reference for how close Elder Wilkes is to his Nana ... We are very familiar with this area as we visit my mom at least once a year.
Wheeler Historic Farm is a favorite place, and three of my siblings graduated from Hillcrest HS.
Both places are found on the map.

This week has gone pretty awesome! Taught my first actual lesson with a golden investigator, who we hope to baptize in 2 weeks! (He is in the plaid shirt in the photo) I also had my first baptism yesterday! It was amazing!  I am taking it easy, well trying to, we walk to the chapel to do splits and everytime I feel like I trip and hurt my ankle a little more, but I can feel it getting better. However, I am not taking ibuprofen...está bien! It doesn't hurt that much!  The church is in a circular form. We live about 5 minutes North East of the church, down a street called Juy Juy.  Honestly, I think Tuxtla is larger than Tucson! It is huge! And we are surrounded by mountains, if you think Tucson is surrounded, think again! I legit feel like we are in a bowl! It is green everywere! And even though we are finishing up mango season, we are still eating mangos everyday! It is really weird slurping a super juicy mango out of a hole! This is how we eat mangoes: ...

P-Day is Thursday this week because we are going to the temple that day, so P-Day was moved. Wow! This week was insane!! This will probably be my biggest email ever. As you all already know, we had transfers and we knew I was leaving but didn't know where. Monday night we found out I will be going to the Murray 2nd Ward! And my new companion will be Élder Solis! He was born and raised in Miami Florida, but his parents are from Guatemala. His first language is Spanish, and he just finished his training before I came so he has about 3 and a half months in the mission. He is awesome, loves swimming and volleyball, plus he is also a professional dancer. There are also sisters in the ward now as well because the area is huge. What stinks is that they are on bikes and we are in a car because of my ankle. I would love to drive them places if I could, but I can't. They are awesome though! Their names are Hermana Oteo who is from San Diego, but her parents are from Mexico. She ...
