two weeks worth ...

Monday, March 13, 2017

Hello everyone! Not much happened this week. There was a baptism that the sisters had which was awesome. Our investigator, K, with the baptismal date went and it was awesome! We invited her to J's and she said she would go but never showed up. So it was awesome that she came to this one.

We have an investigator named L who is 15 years old. He is cool. He freaks out anytime someone mentions baptism to him. When my companion and his previous comp asked him the baptismal question he freaked out and told them that they only befriended him just to baptize him. So we just need to be patient with him. When we teach him we share little messages from each lesson and then play Monopoly or Sorry with him. He doesn't have very many friends in school or in church because he doesn't know English. The youth in our ward understand Spanish but hardly speak it, even though their parents are from other countries and only speak Spanish. So we are working with him and trying to help him.

Love you guys!

Doctrine and Covenants 105:6 - And my people must needs be chastened until they learn obedience, if it must needs be, by the things which they suffer.

Hello everyone!

This week had it's highs and lows. But no week is a bad week in the mission! Elder Solis got sick and was sick for 4 days! It was insane! He just got a stomach bug and normally gets sick for days on end. It was okay though! Got to read my scriptures and watch some good Mormon Messages!!

We received a bike this week. It is actually really fun! Although I am worried about my companion because he was not a bike rider before his mission so he isn't used to it yet.

We had an amazing lesson on Friday, but I had to go with one of our zone leaders because Elder Solis was sick. We had it at a former Mission President's house. He served in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He had 2 former Elders at his house from that mission, the ex-President's wife, the investigator, and her LDS friend who served in Mendoza, Argentina. We taught lesson 1 and the Spirit was incredibly strong with us! I actually gave her the baptismal invitation in the first lesson. However, she politely denied saying that she was already baptized by conversion and confirmed into her church, and had her 2 sons do the same. Elder Privado (zone leader from El Salvador) saved the day and said that if she felt like this was the true church will you be baptized? To that she said yes. I have a feeling she will get baptized.

Then on Saturday we had the baptism for K! One of our investigators from Peru! It was amazing! It was probably the longest baptism I have ever attended, an hour and a half long. Nevertheless, the Spirit was ever present.

I am so grateful to be a part of this work and to enjoy in the many blessings that come from it. I love you all!!

Alma 26:30-31 - And we have suffered all manner of afflictions, and all this, that perhaps we might be the means of saving some soul; and we supposed that our joy would be full if perhaps we could be the means of saving some. Now behold, we can look forth and see the fruits of our labors; and are they few? I say unto you, Nay, they are many; yea, and we can witness of their sincerity, because of their love towards their brethren and also towards us.

This week has gone pretty awesome! Taught my first actual lesson with a golden investigator, who we hope to baptize in 2 weeks! (He is in the plaid shirt in the photo) I also had my first baptism yesterday! It was amazing!  I am taking it easy, well trying to, we walk to the chapel to do splits and everytime I feel like I trip and hurt my ankle a little more, but I can feel it getting better. However, I am not taking ibuprofen...está bien! It doesn't hurt that much!  The church is in a circular form. We live about 5 minutes North East of the church, down a street called Juy Juy.  Honestly, I think Tuxtla is larger than Tucson! It is huge! And we are surrounded by mountains, if you think Tucson is surrounded, think again! I legit feel like we are in a bowl! It is green everywere! And even though we are finishing up mango season, we are still eating mangos everyday! It is really weird slurping a super juicy mango out of a hole! This is how we eat mangoes: ...

P-Day is Thursday this week because we are going to the temple that day, so P-Day was moved. Wow! This week was insane!! This will probably be my biggest email ever. As you all already know, we had transfers and we knew I was leaving but didn't know where. Monday night we found out I will be going to the Murray 2nd Ward! And my new companion will be Élder Solis! He was born and raised in Miami Florida, but his parents are from Guatemala. His first language is Spanish, and he just finished his training before I came so he has about 3 and a half months in the mission. He is awesome, loves swimming and volleyball, plus he is also a professional dancer. There are also sisters in the ward now as well because the area is huge. What stinks is that they are on bikes and we are in a car because of my ankle. I would love to drive them places if I could, but I can't. They are awesome though! Their names are Hermana Oteo who is from San Diego, but her parents are from Mexico. She ...
