Monday, December 12, 2016 - Take two

I had seen stories and pictures online:
A mom receives a text from someone she doesn't know.
Its a picture of her missionary traveling to the mission in an airport.

I thought to myself: "If there is any airport in the world that there would be someone willing to send me a picture, it would be the Salt Lake airport."
I had a silent hope and prayer that maybe ... possibly ... I would receive a text.

Elder Wilkes's flight left at 2:20 pm.

It was now 5:20 pm

I was trying not to think about getting a text.

And my phone dings with a text ... from my friend Susan ... with a picture of Elder Wilkes!!!
Susan had been on the same flight.
She has known Elder Wilkes since birth.
They found him and helped him find...

... his new Mission President and new companion!!

She just kept texting me pictures!
My heart was so full of gratitude and the happy tears were instantaneous.

I love the peaceful smile in meeting his new companion.

He's so happy to be a missionary again!

This one was sent from the Mission President's wife, Sister Hillier.

This week has gone pretty awesome! Taught my first actual lesson with a golden investigator, who we hope to baptize in 2 weeks! (He is in the plaid shirt in the photo) I also had my first baptism yesterday! It was amazing!  I am taking it easy, well trying to, we walk to the chapel to do splits and everytime I feel like I trip and hurt my ankle a little more, but I can feel it getting better. However, I am not taking ibuprofen...está bien! It doesn't hurt that much!  The church is in a circular form. We live about 5 minutes North East of the church, down a street called Juy Juy.  Honestly, I think Tuxtla is larger than Tucson! It is huge! And we are surrounded by mountains, if you think Tucson is surrounded, think again! I legit feel like we are in a bowl! It is green everywere! And even though we are finishing up mango season, we are still eating mangos everyday! It is really weird slurping a super juicy mango out of a hole! This is how we eat mangoes: ...

P-Day is Thursday this week because we are going to the temple that day, so P-Day was moved. Wow! This week was insane!! This will probably be my biggest email ever. As you all already know, we had transfers and we knew I was leaving but didn't know where. Monday night we found out I will be going to the Murray 2nd Ward! And my new companion will be Élder Solis! He was born and raised in Miami Florida, but his parents are from Guatemala. His first language is Spanish, and he just finished his training before I came so he has about 3 and a half months in the mission. He is awesome, loves swimming and volleyball, plus he is also a professional dancer. There are also sisters in the ward now as well because the area is huge. What stinks is that they are on bikes and we are in a car because of my ankle. I would love to drive them places if I could, but I can't. They are awesome though! Their names are Hermana Oteo who is from San Diego, but her parents are from Mexico. She ...
