Happy 4th everyone!! I am at the mission office now to recoup because of my ankle. I am here for 2 weeks! At least I have some movies to watch (all in Spanish of course but it is easy because I have watched the movies a lot in English so I can figure out what they are saying); The Restoration, The Mountain of the Lord, and The Testaments. It gets really boring though. Everyone here is hilarious. Technically all 6 of the elders here (7 now) are companions. It is nice when they are all here. They are starting a barber shop quartet here too! Well kinda, they only have like 15-20 minutes to practice at night, they sound good though. I still have 1 and a half more weeks here. It will get pretty boring.

My ankle is a little bit worse hurting wise, and I think that is because I walked and did my exercises too early. But the swelling has gone down a lot. I think I should be fine in a week or two. If not, I will probably have to come home and get better. I am praying often to be able to get better. Can you guys help me with that?

I don't really have much else to say other than I love Tuxtla! This place is awesome. We just got out of rainy season and are heading in to the windy season (also mango season!!!!) and I am really excited!

I got the package you sent. It was all together! Even went to Tokyo, I thought at first Ames had sent me something and I was like what the heck?

I love you all!

From Elder Wilkes’s first mission field companion, Elder De Jesus:

Hi I´m Elder De Jesus i´m  from Mexico and ,i just want so say thank you for preparing your son for this day.All that he is from what you teach him. and maybe i can say that i meet you already because i live with your son . anyways  i was thinking how amazing are our parents. i like this scripture  but i will change the word "mothers" to "parents"
" yea, they had been taught by their "parents" , that if they did not doubt, God would deliver them.
And they rehearsed unto me the words of their"parents", saying: We do not doubt our "parents" knew it.
i don´t know how hard it is to teach a good son . well yeah maybe i understand a little bit because that´s something that we do all the time anyways.

maybe you didn't know that i will be  bless from your teachings through your son . i really love him he is my friend, i can feel the love of my heavenly father with his words. he teaches me a lot and he gives me the example, he is a disciple of jesus christ he talks with the spirit, he teach me how to be a good missionary and i really need that hahaha he is kind of crazy haha no well yes he is really crazy but. he is wonderful, now i have the blessing to be his trainer and we are having the difficultly of his ankle but i´m trying to do the same that you will do in this situation and bring him my love, he is just perfect and seriously this time had been awesome with him i really love him, he is like a big teddy bear haha. Now he is resting in the mission office for 3 or 2 week and the he will be back with me, in the ward the members love him when he teach in front of the people he is so funny but with the spirit.  you need to know that when he talks about his parents or his brothers he talks with the spirit;  you have been o big part of his live.
All your teachings i had been received and i just want so say Thank you, you are greats parents!! if your need something i will tell him

This week has gone pretty awesome! Taught my first actual lesson with a golden investigator, who we hope to baptize in 2 weeks! (He is in the plaid shirt in the photo) I also had my first baptism yesterday! It was amazing!  I am taking it easy, well trying to, we walk to the chapel to do splits and everytime I feel like I trip and hurt my ankle a little more, but I can feel it getting better. However, I am not taking ibuprofen...está bien! It doesn't hurt that much!  The church is in a circular form. We live about 5 minutes North East of the church, down a street called Juy Juy.  Honestly, I think Tuxtla is larger than Tucson! It is huge! And we are surrounded by mountains, if you think Tucson is surrounded, think again! I legit feel like we are in a bowl! It is green everywere! And even though we are finishing up mango season, we are still eating mangos everyday! It is really weird slurping a super juicy mango out of a hole! This is how we eat mangoes: ...

P-Day is Thursday this week because we are going to the temple that day, so P-Day was moved. Wow! This week was insane!! This will probably be my biggest email ever. As you all already know, we had transfers and we knew I was leaving but didn't know where. Monday night we found out I will be going to the Murray 2nd Ward! And my new companion will be Élder Solis! He was born and raised in Miami Florida, but his parents are from Guatemala. His first language is Spanish, and he just finished his training before I came so he has about 3 and a half months in the mission. He is awesome, loves swimming and volleyball, plus he is also a professional dancer. There are also sisters in the ward now as well because the area is huge. What stinks is that they are on bikes and we are in a car because of my ankle. I would love to drive them places if I could, but I can't. They are awesome though! Their names are Hermana Oteo who is from San Diego, but her parents are from Mexico. She ...
