Hello Everyone!
This week was awesome!!
We went tracting with L __ in the apartments that we found earlier! It was really fun! He even enjoyed himself a ton. We think he really wants to go on a mission! That would be really cool to see. While he was with us we picked up a new investigator. Her name is M___ and we think she is from Mexico. She is super solid and wants us to come back to teach her. She was a referral that we received from a Hispanic worker that works at those apartments. We finally went to go contact her and she was surprised to see us. She has seen English Elders before in those apartments, and got interested because of them. She knows more about the church than we thought. She doesn't really have any concerns yet, which is great. Once we start actually teaching her the lessons we are pretty sure that she will have some questions.
The ward had a Father's Day party on Saturday night which was super awesome! Although it was super Americanized in a Hispanic Ward lol. We had Chicken Alfredo for dinner with water and lemonade as the beverages, and some chocolate cake for dinner. It was weird, normally we eat pozole for dinner (a Mexican soup) and flan or tres leches (Hispanic deserts) and some Jamaica juice for the beverages. It was still pretty fun! All the sisters who helped set up in the ward wore ties, so the sister missionaries asked us if they could borrow our ties lol it was funny.
We went with L___ to the temple again! We watched Meet the Mormons with him this time. It was so much fun, he loved the movie. His favorite part was the coach, and I don't blame him! It is my favorite too!! He loved the story of the candy bomber though. He was super surprised when I told him that I had met him! While we were heading out of the theater he told Elder Gonzalez and I that he wants to try to find a sister on Temple Square from El Salvador, which is where he is from. And he got what he wished for!! Literally 15 seconds after he told us we found one out in front!! It was pretty awesome. As we were waiting outside the grounds for his aunt to come and pick us up. These 4 guys came up to us, wanting to bible bash with us. L___ told me he didn't like this and that he has a bad feeling, so I told them thanks for their time, but that we needed to use the restroom. Needless to say, we called his aunt and asked her to pick us up on the other side of the grounds. Now he knows that there are people like that wherever we go. He wants to try and change that. He really does have a really strong testimony and wants to share it.
One thing I learned during was in Proverbs 16:32. This scripture teaches us that we need to not get mad easily. Sometimes we can get mad over the little things and it has a long term effect on us. If we can channel our minds into getting over the things that we get mad over we will automatically see a difference in our lives. I love the last part. We are in charge of ourselves and our actions. Sometimes we forget that and say that someone else made us do something. When we are able to be in control of ourselves and our actions, we will be incredibly more happy than how we were just seconds before. I just wanted to share my experience with you and challenge you guys to try and look for the good things in live, instead of getting mad over other things.
Proverbs 16:32 - He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.
